For more than 85 years, our client has been a visionary leader in whole food philosophy! They offer over 350 high-quality supplements with whole food ingredients. The organization is vertically integrated - farm to fork - seed to supplement! We have been retained to find a talented R&D Process Engineer for their organization! The Process Engineer will be responsible for commercialization and scale up of all new products. Working with manufacturing teams, the individual will help in designing, developing, testing, operating, and validating manufacturing processes and equipment necessary to develop and launch ingredients and formulas for nutrition supplements. This position will review new technology and determine suitability with the business by evaluating human work factors, time efficiency, cost, and ultimate impact on product quality.



This position can be based out of Palmyra, WI (company HQ and plant location) or Kannapolis, NC (R&D Innovation center).



Essential Functions




  • Lead all product scale up activities for the manufacturing and commercialization of new products.


  • Manage the pilot plant and processes from pilot plant prototype to full scale manufacturing.


  • Design and develop process systems for new products and assess new technologies and processes available in the nutrition supplement industry.


  • Prepare calculations, specifications, sketches and drawings of process systems as needed.


  • Develop specifications for equipment, materials and overall process performance requirements as needed.


  • Develop strategies for process improvement and evaluate impact of such changes when appropriate.


  • Work cooperatively with Production and Engineering to introduce and commission new equipment for production.


  • Ensure effective communication and approval of key stakeholders for process change.


  • Work directly with machine operators to identify needs and develop solutions.


  • Mitigate or remove process safety and employee risk.


  • Review product quality markers to ensure long term success.


  • Identify and ensure that all relevant processing parameters and validations are planned and carried out.


  • Become a subject matter expert for the support of unique processing technologies such as supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), membrane technology, drying, extraction, granulation, and solid dose technology.


  • Work with equipment manufacturers to develop maintenance and standard operating procedures.



Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related degree.


  • Minimum of 5 year of industry experience (Dietary supplement manufacturing experience is ideal. Pharma, food and beverage manufacturing experience will be considered.)


  • Experience designing experiments.


  • Experience managing projects and personnel.


  • Ability to travel between Palmyra, WI and Kannapolis, NC.
